The agencies started out matching Big Brothers with Little Brothers and Big Sisters with Little Sisters but have grown to include a variety of different programs including the In-School Mentoring program, Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds program, and Joining Paths.

One of the original founders of the Sarnia agency is Brother Al Verstraaten, who pursued affiliation with Big Brothers of Canada after realizing that in many ways they were providing the same service.

The organization grew rapidly and within two years began to service the Peace Bridge area, and remained servicing the area for nineteen years. The agency has gone through three name changes in its history, reflecting organizational changes with our local United Way.

Empowering our seniors and the physically or mentally disabled to establish relationships through community events and buddy systems so there is less isolation. Giving them the venues to become more self assured individuals and have others to reach out to break their isolation factor.
