Canadian MBA Schools - Recruitment Possibilities

The employment prospects for graduates of MBA degrees from Canadian universities.

What are the employment prospects for graduates of MBA degrees from Canadian universities?

The employment potential of students following the completion of their respective degrees is one of the most important aspects for many students when choosing a school and/or program. To this end, it is important not only to choose a degree which is respected by employers in the sector or industry which you will enter but also a school where recruitment potential is high. Therefore, you may want to select an institution that has an extensive career or recruitment network including a career assistance office that is connected with domestic and international recruiters and employers. Typically, larger and more prestigious schools will be more integrated with the business world and possess extensive ties with multinational employers. In fact, due in large part to financial and time constraints, recruiters tend to only search for potential employees within a limited group of schools. Queen's University, for example, is the exclusive Canadian, and, in some cases, North American base for some recruiters.

Simply because a school will not provide you with comprehensive assistance to find employment, though, does not mean that it is a "bad" school and/or that its degree is not worthwhile. However, the less help with finding employment that is offered, the more you will probably have to do to market yourself to potential employers. To discover the extent of employment assistance offered by a school you may review what the school, especially its career office, has to say about itself, although this information may be bias or minimal. You may also contact the school's current students and/or alumni and inquire as to their respective experiences with employment searches. You could also contact potential employers directly and determine their experiences with graduates and/or how they view the quality of the MBA degree from the school in question.
