The annual rankings of MBA schools that are published by various international publications are not determined through objective or scientific means and should be seen as simply another subjective way of evaluating educational institutions. In fact, different ranking systems yield different results. For example, the MBA programs at Queen's University and HEC Montreal are ranked 1st and 4th respectively in Canada by Business Week Magazine but neither makes the Financial Time's list of the country's top 5 degrees. Therefore, if you were to use rankings as the only or primary tool to judge business schools, you may overlook good and/or excellent MBA programs. Furthermore, if you are to use rankings to evaluate potential MBA schools to attend, you should be aware by whom the specific rankings in question were established and what and how they measure to determine them.
