Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Animal and Poultry Science |
A previous undergraduate degree (eg. biology, veterinary science) with a minimum B+ average (in some cases this must be an honors degree) is required for admission to graduate-level programs (MSc or MASc) in animal science. Practical experience with animals is an asset and often required, such as that found through practical work on a farm, animal shelter, zoo, etc.
Admission to a PhD program can either be directly from an undergraduate degree (in addition to already having extensive research experience, and being published in a peer-reviewed journal), or after acquiring a relevant Master's-level degree.
As all graduate programs require a supervisor, most schools require this person to be approved prior to final admission.
