We're a non-profit organization that's almost 120 years old. We basicaly work with clients who are marginalized, have low income as well as Mental Health & Addictions. In the 118 years, we've grown immensely from main site (145 Queen Street / Jarvis with 147 Housing to now have 10 FV sites.

Bethlehem United Shelter (Caledonia) = with single / couples / LGBT / pets
Women's Day Program (programs for women when they're out of the hostel / free lunch provided by the City)
Employment & Training Services = Thrive (Trans-gendered only Mondays for job search, housing & legal issues) = Intake & 2 Employment Specialists = Back to Basics (education) = Ontario Works Pre-employment training programs i.e. Career Directions & Hospitality as well as Career Exploration = Volunteerism (mostly community / student placements)

Do you require language proficiency other than in English? No
What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer? 3 to 6 months commitment - 2nd year Students usually have their placements from September to the following April or May (200 to 600 hours)
Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer? For community members, they usually attend the programs they are interested in, and become familiar with clients
Are there any specific skills and experience required? Depending on the situation or need i.e. First Aid, CPR, Non-violent crisis prevention / intervention etc.
What type of volunteer positions are typically available? Women's Hostel (students), Caledonia (students), Women's Day Program = students & community, Open House = community only, Employment & Training Services
Is there any training provided for volunteers? Yes.
What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization? Picking up donations for the Open House, clothing room, art program, Employment & Training Services = students / community - Board of Directors, Special Events etc.
