Through the delivery of innovative programs and services over the last 25 years, Dr. Roz's Healing Place helps empower survivors and victims of violence to make positive changes through the cultivation of a holistic lifestyle. We are a woman positive organization that provides a safe environment and supportive programming to our clientele. We service upwards of 1000 women, children, youth and community members per year.

What services does your organization provide? At Dr. Roz's Healing Place, caseworkers use a holistic primary care approach to services which include: - Counselling, legal, housing, income, medical and educational support & referrals
- Arranging interpretation services
- Academic support and training for women and children
- Building Opportunities for Women Employment Training Program
- Follow Up Care Program for Ex-Resident Support
- Daycare subsidy & Parental support
- Child Advocacy
- VIBE (Vital Intervention Breakthrough Empowerment) Youth Program
- Creative and educational programming such as art, movement and recreational therapy
- Community outreach and education

Do you have any age requirements? There are no minimum age requirements. |
Do you require language proficiency other than in English? Speaking a language other than English would be an asset, however, it is not a requirement. |
What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer? We appreciate the time that volunteers make in order to give back to their communities. Therefore, the Volunteer Program within Dr. Roz's Healing Place is designed to meet your needs. As a volunteer, you can work with us once per week, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on your availability. |
Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer? All volunteers over the age of 18 are required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening before starting their work with us. |
Are there any specific skills and experience required? Our volunteer opportunities are designed for individuals who are flexible, professional, dedicated, mature, grounded, compassionate, creative, kind, and who have strong verbal and written communication skills. |
What type of volunteer positions are typically available? Client Accompaniment, Reception Coverage, Women's Group Facilitation, Children's Group Facilitation, Community Outreach via Special Event Coordination, Public Speaking, Fundraising, Donation Solicitation and Partnership Development. |
Is there any training provided for volunteers? All volunteers are required to complete a 1.5 training session at which time they will sign a Confidentiality agreement. Training involves discussing policies & procedures as well as expectations in each volunteer department. |
What are the typical volunteer activities occurring at your organization? Program Planning and Implementation, Client Accompaniment, Documentation, Informal Counselling, Blogging, Social Media Outreach, Organizing donations, Gardening, Administrative Duties and Reception Coverage. |
