Do you have any age requirements? Individuals 13 years old or older may volunteer independantly. Children may also volunteer if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer? Volunteers are required to make a commitment of 1 shift per week for a minimum of three months. Shifts vary in length between 1-4 hours in length.
Are there any specific skills and experience required? Skills will vary depending upon the placement.
What type of volunteer positions are typically available? Positions are available working in nursing, recreation, fundraising and spiritual care. Most volunteer positions work directly with patients.
Is there any training provided for volunteers? General orientation is provided before placement. Further training specific to the placement is provided on the job.
How will a person benefit from volunteering with Deer Lodge Centre? Volunteers will develop new skills and meet new friends. It is a good way to explore careers in healthcare and gain references.
Do you accept high school students? High school students are welcome to apply to be a volunteer.
