What services does your organization provide? Case Management, Outreach, drop-in centre, referrals to community partners, advocacy, basic needs items including food/hygiene/showers
Do you have any age requirements? 18 years
Do you require language proficiency other than in English? not usually
What time commitment(s) are you expecting from a volunteer? At least 4 hours monthly
Are there any other requirements for being a volunteer? We do request a police record check before the volunteer starts
Are there any specific skills and experience required? No- however knowledge of the issues surrounding homelessness and poverty is a bonus
What type of volunteer positions are typically available? Board of directors, centre operations/clean up, outreach van, fundraising, internal board committees, special events, administration
Is there any training provided for volunteers? Yes- volunteers will shadow other volunteers/students for the initial time period when the volunteer starts, as well tere is specific training for the outreach program and harm reduction program
How will a person benefit from volunteering with David Busby Street Centre? The Centre is a place where a volunteer will learn about the issues surrounding poverty and homelessness, they will learn the many different local community resources, and have the opportunity to meet new people and listen to their stories.
