Many schools in Canada offer a mining engineering (or similar) degree program. BCIT also offers a diploma in mining technology.
Completion of high school is required for admission to BCIT's diploma program, with the completion of English and math. Physics or chemistry is also required; geology and/or earth science is also recommended. Upgrading options are usually available for those who have not completed high school or are missing prerequisites.
For undergraduate degree programs in mining engineering, completion of high school is once again a requirement, with an average of at least 75-80%. Generally, English, pre-calculus math, and physics are required. A background or courses in geology or earth sciences is recommended.
