University of Ottawa Law SchoolCareer and Employment OpportunitiesMany of the Faculty's graduates have gone on to distinguished careers as academics, lawyers, scholars, judges and justices, including at the Supreme Court of Canada, and politicians, among other professions. One of the more notable alumni members is Dalton McGuinty, the Premier of Ontario. In an effort to help undergraduate and graduate law students and recent alumni begin their respective careers, the Career Development Resource Centre (CDRC) hosts many events throughout the year through which students and employers may directly meet and discuss possible employment opportunities, including articling and summer positions.
The CDRC also helps students with attaining articling and summer recruitment and judicial clerkships and publishes documents, both on its website and in print, designed to further 'assist students in their job search.' Such publications include "Naked Resumes and Cover Letters" and "Planning Your Strategy;" the latter is essentially a 'starting point for students and provides answers to many questions about articling, summering, bar admissions and job searching in general.'
