Many community colleges offer veterinary assistant or veterinary technician training to the certificate or diploma level. You must complete high school with at least a C+ average, with English, mathematics, biology, and chemistry.
Four English-language schools in Canada offer degrees: U of Calgary, U of Guelph, UPEI, and U of Saskatchewan. For admission to the undergraduate DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) program, you must be in (or have already completed) an undergraduate post-secondary program with at least a B average. Required courses during these prerequisite years include organic chemistry, biochemistry, and statistics. As well, an interview may be required prior to final admission. Previous veterinary experience is an asset, and may be required by some schools.
