Those with a background in kinesiology can work in a clinical, community, educational, or research setting.
Kinesiologists can work in athletic therapy, or with the additional studies, in physiotherapy. In hospitals they can work work with individuals with disabling conditions to assist in regaining their optimal physical function.
They can work as personal trainers, in fitness promotion and consultation, and in recreational therapy. There they focus on working with individuals to enhance their health, fitness, and well-being. They can work in the ergonomics industry where they can assess suitability of the design of workstations and provide suggestions for modifications and assistive devices. They are also involved in consulting to identify hazards and provide recommendations to optimize the health and safety of workers.
Graduates can also work in academic teaching kinesiology, sports studies, and physical therapy while at the same time doing research. With an additional teaching degree they can teach physical education at the primary and secondary school level.
