Health Studies Research Areas and Disciplines |
Much research is in exploring the links between socioeconomic development and health, as well as the relationships between high- and low-income countries. Researchers are also analyzing the role of new technologies in improving equity in health. For example, some are studying the role of information and communication technologies to support recent immigrants to Canada, such as the use of Facebook to disseminate new information.
Another area of research is in the improvement of health care for seniors, particularly those residing in long-term care facilities. This includes studies into including family members in policy decisions, developing enrichment programs, and bettering attitudes towards the elderly. There is a lot overlap in research between health studies and population, community, and global health. Many researchers work collaboratively on projects such as HIV education, socioeconomic status and its relation to overall health, and the promotion of physical activity. See the article on population, community, and global health for more information.
