What is Biological Engineering?Biological engineering (also called bioengineering, biosystems engineering, or biological systems engineering) is the application of engineering principles to issues in the fields of biology and medicine. In general, biological engineers attempt to either mimic biological systems in order to create products, or modify biological systems so that they can replace, augment, or sustain chemical and mechanical processes.
Biomedical engineering is a subfield of biological engineering (see article on biomedical engineering) and most schools recognize this distinction through the availability of separate programs and degrees.
