Profile of Segal Graduate School of Business - Simon Fraser UniversitySince 1965, Simon Fraser University has challenged convention and embraced change, and is consistently ranked at or near the top among Canada’s best comprehensive universities. SFU Business is a business school with a history of doing things differently. The needs of the local, national and international business community guide our decisions in research, business programs and community outreach. SFU Business began delivering management education with the launch of Canada’s first Executive MBA program more than 40 years ago, and we’ve continued to expand and tailor our program offerings to reflect changes in the business environment. With doctoral, graduate, undergraduate and corporate management programs now available, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to provide the best learning experience possible. Graduate programs at SFU Business are unique. Most business schools offer only one MBA program with multiple specialist streams following the basic coursework. We instead provide individual programs tailored for separate markets, with each program offered on a cohort model. This enables us to tailor every course to the specific population served, resulting in a more satisfying student experience delivered in smaller class sizes to cohesive groups. The Business School at Simon Fraser University offers over five major programs including Master of Business Administration (MBA), MBA in Global Asset and Wealth Management, MBA in Management of Technology/Biotechnology (offered part-time), Master of Financial Risk Management, Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (online), and Ph.D. in Business Administration. Executive level education is also available including the Executive MBA, CMA Executive Program, Directors Education Program (offered jointly with UBC’s Sauder School of Business, Rotman School of Management, and the ICD Corporate Governance), Health Management Program, and Customized and Corporate Education (offered in tandem with the Learning Strategies Group (LSG). The Segal Graduate School of Business – western Canada’s first dedicated centre for graduate business education – opened in 2005 in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s business district. The location is a distinctive venue for scholars, students, business and industry leaders to convene, teach, learn and explore the latest management concepts. It houses all of SFU Business graduate studies programs as well as specialized research centres including the CMA Centre for Strategic Change and Performance Measurement, the CIBC Centre for Corporate Governance and Risk Management, and the Centre for Biotechnology Management. |
