The Management of Technology / Biotechnology MBA (MOT MBA) program covers the breadth of the business disciplines, but is unique in its focus on managing the business opportunities and challenges faced by technology and biotechnology firms. It is designed to enable technically-oriented professionals to identify strategic business opportunities and manage them successfully.
The Management of Technology MBA focuses on the business aspects of technology. It adopts a process view of organizations with a project management mindset. The program is a dynamic mix of solid academic theory enhanced by practical experiences designed to mirror challenging situations students will face in the technology business environment. Innovation and entrepreneurship drive a curriculum that embraces change and challenges students to learn new ways of framing problems and creating solutions.
The biotechnology specialization focuses on the issues and process of the biotechnology industry with an emphasis on commercialization of new products. It is a comprised of a series of courses within the Management of Technology MBA that delves into the complexities of the biotechnology industry with its ethical, regulatory and business development issues and provides students with both the knowledge base and managerial capacities to excel in this exciting industry.
The MOT MBA is offered over two-years, as a part-time program with classes held two nights a week. The curriculum brings together theory and practice in managing innovation with an entrepreneurial mindset. To complement the academic theory learned in the classroom, business executives are invited to provide a global outlook and to discuss the realities within their organizations and their strategies to manage these realities. In addition, throughout the MOT MBA program, students complete assignments which relate directly to their organization. The application of classroom learning in the workplace is an essential element of our learning environment.
