The Executive MBA program is for experienced mid-career managers, executives and professionals who are poised to assume leadership roles at the local, national or international level. The program is about expanding knowledge and expertise, increasing confidence, and enhancing careers:
- Gain new insights and frameworks for thinking, analyzing, strategizing and leading
- Improve skills in communication, presentation and negotiation
- Experience the benefits of increased collaboration and teamwork
The EMBA is based on a cohort model, where students spend an entire 19-month program with classmates whose business, cultural, and life experiences add immeasurably to one’s education.
The class schedule is formatted to allow students to continue working while they pursue their studies. Each term consists of seven weekends. Classes are held all day Friday and Saturday, every other weekend and includes overnight accommodation at a nearby hotel on Friday when classes are in session.
There is also an opportunity for students to add an international field trip component to their studies. This optional trip examines the significant cultural, political, legal and economic differences between Canadian firms and their counterparts around the world. The agenda includes lectures by SFU Business professors and professors at the host university, complemented by site tours of participating business organizations.
