The appropriate forms on which the required Letters of Appraisal or Letters of Reference are to be completed will typically be supplied by the school to which one is applying and, depending on the school, may be completed online, downloaded, or requested as part of an application package. On average, 2 to 3 of the aforementioned letters will be requested, and, usually, one letter will attest to the applicant's ability to succeed in an MBA program as well as his/her potential contributions to the class, program, and/or field he/she is entering, and one letter will typically address the applicant's career including his/her duties performed, roles and titles held, work ethics, skills, and accomplishments.
It is important, however, to make sure as to what precisely should be included in the content of these letters because some schools will have their own specific questions they want answered. Each of the required letters must come from a professional and/or administrative source familiar with the applicant's education and work. The author of the letter must state his/her position and for how long he/she has known the applicant. Unless letters may be submitted online, each author must typically send his/her letter in a signed and sealed envelope to the appropriate office of the school to which the applicant is applying.
