Island Arts Centre Society

The Island Arts Centre Society was formed by the visual and performing artists and artisans of Salt Spring Island in 1989, in conjunction with the Gulf Islands Community Arts Council and Salt Spring Island Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission. It was given the mandate to raise funds and design, build and operate a centre for the arts. Artist Robert Bateman officially opened ArtSpring in April 1999.

Salt Spring and Southern Gulf Islands Community Services Society

Salt Spring Island Community Services began as a grassroots organization by a dedicated group of community volunteers concerned about the support to their fellow island residents. It became a Society in 1975 with a small collection of services established itself in the original Lady Minto Hospital.
