Medical degrees in thoracic surgery are available at almost all medical schools in Canada. Generally, at least 3 years of a previous undergraduate degree is required for admission. Full completion of this previous degree is an asset. Some schools require an average of at least B in the previous degree (and of course, the higher the average, the better). Completion of relevant courses such as biology or chemistry is considered an asset, rounded out with several humanities and social sciences courses.
Some schools require the MCAT (medical college admission test) to be written. A score of at least 27 is considered an asset for admission.
