To be admitted to a MSW program, students must have completed a BSW degree with at least a B+ average. Work experience in social work or related community work is usually a requirement as well (requisite hours vary amongst schools).
Some schools offer PhD and post-MSW diplomas in social work. Students must have completed a MSW with at least a B+ average to be admitted. In some cases, a Master's degree in a related social science or human services may be acceptable for admission to these programs.
In all cases, the supervisor must be chosen prior to final admission; as well, students may undergo a criminal record check due to the nature of their research and clinical work.
