Almost all medical schools in Canada offer a program in plastic or reconstructive surgery. Standards for Canadian applicants are usually more relaxed compared to international applicants. Admission to the MD program is generally contingent on getting a favorable score on the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), ranging from 24 to 30 overall. A grade of B+ is also required in the last 2 years of a previous program. Students currently taking an undergraduate degree in any discipline are usually eligible for admission to the MD program; in some cases full completion of the previous degree is mandatory.
Generally, students who are in their final year of medical training are automatically eligible for residency training.
