Studying Orthodontics in Canada |
Students studying orthodontics learn to diagnose orthodontic problems and provide patients with solutions that best meet their needs. To accomplish this, students study oral biology such as the function anatomy of the head and neck, as well as the development and biochemistry of the connective tissues associated with the jaws. They also study the growth and development of human craniofacial structures.
Students also study various orthodontic techniques including the use of biomechanics in clinical orthodontics. See the articles on orthopedics and biomechanics for more information.
Along with classroom studies, students partake in various seminars including new orthodontic techniques, orofacial pain, and the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint problems. Students analyze and participate in clinical cases where they gain competency in orthodontic procedures.
