Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Materials Science and Engineering |
Admission to a graduate-level program requires a previous degree in a related discipline (eg. materials engineering, chemistry, metallurgy) with a minimum B+ average. Advanced experience in materials science or chemistry is considered an asset, such as that gained through undergraduate co-op work experience or directed studies.
Admission to a PhD program can either be directly from an undergraduate honors degree with an exceptional average (in addition to already having extensive research experience, and being published in a peer-reviewed journal), or after acquiring a relevant Master's-level degree.
As all graduate programs require a supervisor, most schools require this person to be approved prior to final admission.
