Students studying web development learn to design, implement, and maintain web-based applications. The emphasis is on Web 2.0 techniques and tools with both theoretical and practical learning experiences. Students learn about computer programming, Web design and development, database design and development, systems analysis, interface design, business and business solutions, and personal and career development. Students study the various ways of designing a website that meets various client's needs; creating web pages, graphics and software; implementing software to support the website; documenting solutions; and presenting solutions to team members and clients.
Specifically, students develop skills in programming as well as visual design, project management, and communications for new media. A typical program includes courses in both the main theories and applications of Internet engineering, as well as basic information in Internet law and electronic commerce. Field placements include the opportunity to connect with web developers working within the profession, and provide exposure to current industry practices and trends.
