Internet and Web Research Areas and Disciplines |
Much of the research in web development focuses on designing more usable websites. This includes designing more usable documents, navigation and reading tools, and large print web viewers. As well, research is looking at improving the experience for those people with various disabilities using assistive technologies and adaptive strategies to access the Web. This includes creating captioned audio portions of multimedia files, freezing animated graphics for those with dyslexia, and the synchronization of visual, speech, and Braille displays.
Basic research into designing more efficient programming languages, which translates into better websites, is also ongoing. See the article on computer programming for more information on these new types of languages being developed.
Also see the articles on human-computer interaction, cryptography, and computer graphics for more information on current research in these areas.
