Counseling psychology is offered as a graduate program in Canada; usually through the psychology or education departments. To be admitted to a Master's-level program in counseling psychology, students must have an undergraduate degree in a related field such as education or psychology, with at least a B+ average. Additional experience in counseling psychology, such as that gained through industry experience or directed studies, is an asset. Previous teaching experience may be required for some programs. PhD-level studies require a Master's-level degree in a related field. In all cases, students must have chosen a supervisor prior to final admission. Some schools may require results from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
