Prerequisites for Graduate Studies in Biology |
Graduate-level degrees in biology are available to students who already hold a previous undergraduate degree in a related subject, with an average of at least B over the last 2 years. Previous work experience (co-op, undergraduate honors, directed studies, laboratory research, etc.) is an asset. Some schools require the student to have written the GRE (graduate record exam) prior to applying for admission (especially for international students).
Admission to a PhD program can either be directly from an undergraduate degree (in addition to already having extensive research experience, and being published in a peer-reviewed journal), or after acquiriing a relevant Master's-level degree.
