On Oct. 7, UNB launched two new marketing programs — UNB Research: The Power of Passionate Minds, and Making a Significant Difference 2005-06. "These programs demonstrate the passion of our researchers and the impact our alumni, faculty, staff and students have on the world around them," said Susan Mesheau, director of Student Recruitment and Integrated Marketing. "In doing so they support the president’s vision." That vision is furthering UNB’s role as a national university, advancing UNB’s role as a learning institution, and promoting UNB’s fundamental role in the economic, social and cultural well-being of the province and the region. UNB Research: The Power of Passionate Minds communicates a distinct position for research at UNB. The program, which has at its core images of UNB researchers in unexpected situations, is intended to generate increased awareness and help attract more research funding. It will also be used to recruit top quality graduate and undergraduate students. The first stage of the research marketing program includes a series of national newspaper ads, a four-page full-colour newspaper insert and a brochure. Making a Significant Difference 2005-06 is Year 4 of UNB’s award-winning integrated marketing program. "To date, the Making a Significant Difference program has engendered a greater understanding and appreciation of UNB’s role in the region’s prosperity and in people’s daily lives," explained Ms. Mesheau. "We began by demonstrating how UNB alumni are making a significant difference in education, in the environment, in the economy, health care, technology and research in our province. "This year’s program expands to tell more stories of how alumni, faculty, staff and students are making a difference at home and around the world." Making a Significant Difference 2005-06 includes television and newspaper ads, newspaper inserts and posters.
