- Carpentry Apprenticeship - Aurora College
An apprenticeship is a method of learning a trade through a combination of periods of in-class, technical/theoretical education and periods of paid, on-the-job training. Carpentry apprenticeships in the Northwest Territories are typically 4 years in duration delivered over 4 levels of 1800 hours each (class-based and on-the-job components combined). Aurora College's Carpentry Apprenticeship fulfills the in-class requirements of an apprenticeship program.
- Trades Access - Aurora College
Aurora College's 20- to 26- week Trades Access Program prepares learners 'for entry into trades related programs' and provides them with 'a foundation in physical science.' The Program is intended as a general 'introduction to the working industry' and not as a means to gain employment or proficiency in any particular craft or industry. However, the student will be afforded the required 'information, guidance, and incentives to pursue the trade of his/her choice further,' primarily via an apprenticeship.
