The Vancouver Island School of Art is a certified post-secondary institution situated in a roomy Arts and Crafts style heritage school. The Vancouver Island School of Art was established in September 2004 by popular instructor and artist Wendy Welch. The college provides students with stimulating alternatives to studying art at university level. Students are offered quality courses on a part-time basis while they work towards attaining either of the programs - a Certificate of Visual Arts or a Diploma of Fine Arts. The courses are accredited by the Private Career Training Institute Association. The Vancouver Island School of Art offers very high quality courses for fresher as well as pros. Their courses provide numerous opportunities to build up skills and augment the knowledge of art. The courses are offered during weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings and also during the weekends so as to allow for maximum elasticity for a multiplicity of schedules. All studio courses give more emphasis to the technical characteristics of materials and implementation as well as concentrate on making art in a modern context. The Vancouver Island School of Art offers courses as well as workshops either on an individual basis or as a part of a program. Non-program students can obtain 80% hourly credit for any courses/workshops that they undertake at the Vancouver Island School of Art if they take a decision to get a transfer into a program at a later date. The college is integrated in the Province of British Columbia as a non-profit society. It is also a Registered Charity and as a result any kind of donation is tax deductible.
