Union of New Brunswick Indians Training Institute was set up in 1994. The main focus of the college was to offer post-secondary and other educational prospects for the people as well as by the people of the First Nation communities. Presently the Union of New Brunswick Indians Training Institute is known for providing courses like Diploma in Early Childhood Education and a Certificate in Home & Community Care as a Personal Support Worker. All programs and workshops offered by Union of New Brunswick Indians Training Institute and workshops are offered to First Nations and non-native students. The curriculum has been designed in such as a way, so as to ensure that students can choose whether they want to work on or off-reserve. This makes the curriculum suitable for all. The Union of New Brunswick Indians Training Institute also offers Applied Studies in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/Effects Certificate Program in affiliation with Red River Community College in Manitoba. The course is intended to educate a workforce how to work with all those who have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome or Fetal Alcohol Effects. The institute is certified with Canada and New Brunswick Student Loans along with the Department of Indian Affairs for the purpose of funding. It is also enlisted under the New Brunswick Private Occupational Training Act. UNBI Scholarships are given to post-secondary graduate and undergraduate students. The scholarship does not cover all the expenses of the educational program though. It just supplements the basic source of funds.
