Profile of Career College/Trade School
The International Florist Academy and School (IFAS) is one of the oldest flower design schools in the world. It was founded in 1978 in Montreal. The school is accredited by Emploi-Québec and is recognized by the Ministry of Education in New Brunswick. The school has designed programs to enable students to learn the skills necessary to work in a shop or start one of their own. The International Florist Academy and School offers programs such as florist assistant and floral designer programs that can be completed in 7 to 14 days. Programs in introduction to floral art, florist assistant level, floral designer, interior floral designer, and professional florist are offered. These courses are unique because they are taught as per the instruction and guidance of the founder, Mrs. Lan. Florist basic, modern creation I and II, florist advanced, interior plants, colors and lines, flowers and gift wrapping, balloon art I and II, professional dried flower arrangement, professional floral graphic, permanent floral decoration, European floral art, window dressing, and floritherapy are also offered, and each lasts between 1 and 14 days maximum. Mrs. Lan, the founder of the school, has been practicing floritherapy since 1972. Floritherapy is useful in stabilizing moral balance, maximizing psychological capacity, and promoting good health and happiness using flowers. The one who makes and presents the bouquet as well as the one who receives it are affected by the positive vibes of the flowers.
