The Alberta Health and Safety Training Institute is located in the province of Alberta and offers a range of courses in Emergency Medical Services, CPR, First Aid and a number of other safety courses. Founded in 1996, it is an authorized provider of both the Canadian Red Cross and the Prehospital Trauma Life Support Committee of The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in Cooperation with The Committee on Trauma of The American College of Surgeons. The institute offers a 24-hour online registration system and offers financial assistance for qualifying students. Funding is provided through Alberta Student's Finance, RESP grants and student loans through various banks. The institute also sells a number of first aid kits and paraphernalia to the public. The Alberta Health and Safety Training Institute provides a number of Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR training programs which cover emergency situations and everything from minor to major injuries. Re-certification courses are also available along with certifications for cardiovascular emergencies and Health Care Provider Certification. Various levels of standard first aid courses as well as emergency and child care first aid courses are also available. Students can also opt for a number of Emergency Medical Services courses as well as specialized programs for wilderness safety and industrial safety. Training is also provided for students looking to become instructors in first aid courses. These include upgrade courses as well as transfer courses.
