Students taking an undergraduate degree will take courses in histology, medical microbiology, clinical chemistry, hematology, and immunology. Students also gain practical hands-on experience in a wide variety of laboratory techniques. More advanced courses such as human genetics, the molecular basis of diseases, cryobiology, toxicology, and cancer biology are restricted to upper-level students and graduate students. Surgical pathology and autopsy techniques are also taught to students who wish to specialize in autopsy pathology.

Graduate courses include seminars in recent advances in pathology, including new laboratory techniques. Students are expected to give their own seminars in addition to attending others. Directed studies allow the student to focus on a field of their choosing.
