What is Psychiatry?

Psychiatry is a medical specialty that deals with the treatment, study, and prevention of mental disorders (mental illness, learning disabilities, and personality disorders).

Psychiatrists are different from other medical doctors in that they must also be familiar with the social sciences, in addition to the biological sciences. Treatment usually is either via medications or psychotherapy, and can be conducted on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

About Psychiatry

Psychiatry is considered the middle ground between psychology and neurology.
