Prerequisites Needed to Study Engineering in Canada |
There are several levels of education in engineering. Non-degree programs such as certificates, diplomas, and apprenticeships are offered by community colleges such as BCIT, OUC, NSAC, and UOIT. Universities usually offer degree programs.
Completion of high school is required for admission to most diploma and certificate programs, with the completion (and an average of at least 60%) of English, math, and physics. Upgrading options are usually available for those who have not completed high school or are missing prerequisites.
For undergraduate degree programs, completion of high school is once again a requirement, with an average of at least 70-80% (depending on the engineering subdiscipline). Generally, English, pre-calculus math, and physics are required. Depending on the subspecialty, chemistry or biology may also be required.
