Marine Institute Established: 1964 (Originally called the College of Fisheries, it was renamed the Institute of Navigation, Marine Engineering and Electronics in 1984, and renamed the Fisheries and Marine Institute in 1992, but is today referred to as the Marine Institute). Number of Students Programs The Marine Institute is a post-secondary institute specializing in career programs related to the fisheries and marine industries. The Institute offers bachelors and masters degrees, certificates, one-year advanced diplomas, and 2-year and 3-year diplomas. Additionally, the Institute has the Marine Pursuits, a marine summer camp designed to educate secondary school students about careers in the marine and affiliated industries. Interesting Facts The Marine Institute is part of the Memorial University of Newfoundland, and it is Canada foremost fisheries and marine training facility.
