Centre for Nursing Studies Established: 1995 Number of Students Over 205 Programs The Centre for Nursing Studies offers 3 specialized programs in nursing designed to educate and train new nurses and upgrade the knowledge and skills of practicing nurses. Included in the Centre’s offerings are the Bachelor of Nursing, which is a 4-year program offered in partnership with the Health Care Corporation of St. John's, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and Western Health Care Corporation, the Nurse Practitioner Program, and the Practical Nursing Program. Additionally, for licensed and practicing nurses, the Centre, via its Continuing Nursing Studies, provides over 15 programs and 5 modules aimed at facilitating the transfer of new knowledge regarding the nursing profession, upgrading the skills of nurses, and/or providing nurses who have not worked the minimum amount of hours required to keep their respective nursing licenses the opportunity to work these hours and thus retain their certifications. Interesting Facts The Centre for Nursing Studies is operated by the Health Care Corporation of St. John, the most expansive provider of health care services in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Centre exists to facilitate the provision of specialized training to future and present nurses to create individuals who are ready, willing, and able to provide caring and effective health care to the public. |
