Canadian Mennonite University (CMU), located in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada was established over 60 years ago. It is a full fledged university that offers degrees in arts, music, theology and church ministries. The University was formed by merging three institutions MBBC/Concord College, CMBC and Menno Simons College. It is a Christian University and therefore approaches education with the belief that faith in God shapes our lives. CMU is supported by Mennonite Church, Canada and the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba. The University offers degree courses in varied subjects including Biology, Communications and Media, Economics, Geography, International Development Studies, Philosophy, Political Studies, Psychology, Sociology and Social Sciences. It also offered Biblical and Theological Studies & Church Ministries, Master of Arts in Theological Studies. Canadian Mennonite University has a unique Christian discipleship course called ‘Outtatown’, which enhances spiritual, intellectual and physical growth of an individual. ‘Outtatown’ is spread over eight months and involves traveling. Another interesting course is the Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies (PACTS) where students can study the nature and dynamics of human conflict both interpersonal and international, and ways to deal with it. CMU also offers one year pre-professional courses, which are essentially preparatory courses for students who want to pursue a career in law, medicine or even agriculture through entrance tests in various national universities and schools.
