Institution ProfileThe Luleå University of Technology is the northernmost university of technology in Scandinavia. The university is organized into five main academic divisions. These divisions include the Division of Wood Science and Technology, the Division of Mobile Networking and Computing, the Division of Leisure and Entertainment, the Division of Manufacturing and Design of Wood and Bionanocomposites, and the Division of Wood Physics.
The Division of Mobile Networking and Computing opened its doors for students in the year 2004. In this division, there are four PhD students, two visiting professors, one senior lecturer and three lecturers. The research conducted by the university is mainly in the area of wood science and technology, from forests to finished products.
At present, there are nine professors and approximately thirty postgraduate students in this university. The research studies offered by the Luleå University of Technology covers a variety of subject areas, including process IT tribology, high-performance steel mineral technology and metallurgy, and distributed product development.
Apart from offering the usual undergraduate and graduate level course programs, the Luleå University of Technology also offers a wide range of master’s degree programs. Exchange study programs are also offered by the university.
The Luleå University of Technology has world-class wood research, a Cisco Systems Regional Academy and research in mobile networking. The courses offered in Wood Science and Technology cover research from forests to finished products.
