Institution ProfileThe Linköping University was established in the year 1960. However, it was granted the status of an independent college in the year 1970 and was awarded the status of a full fledged university in the year 1975. The university is considered to be one of the most modern institutions for higher education in Sweden. The university offers a wide range of course programs in both education and research.
The Linköping University offers a large variety of courses in a variety of subject areas through its four main faculties. These faculties include the institute of technology, the faculty of arts and sciences, the faculty of health sciences, and the faculty of educational sciences.
The Linköping University has the honor of being the first university in Sweden to offer MSc program in Industrial Management and Engineering. The programs offered in Cognitive Science and in Information Technology are also two of the most innovative programs. These programs focus on educating students in fields of humanities and social studies and teach their connection with computer science.
The research studies conducted by the Linköping University include Technology and Social Change, Child Studies, Water and Environmental Studies, and Health and Society. Some new themes, such as Culture Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, Food Studies, and on Aging and Later Life have also been added recently to the various research study programs.
The Linköping University offers a wide range of course programs in a variety of subject areas at all levels, including undergraduate, graduate, post graduate and even doctoral levels.
