Institution ProfileThe Göteborg University - School of Design and Crafts is more popularly known as HDK. The history of the school dates back to some one hundred and sixty years, as it was founded in the year 1848.
The students studying in the various course programs offered by the Göteborg University - School of Design and Crafts get an opportunity to make their career as artists, craftsmen and designers. The ex students of this school are now established and professional people in their respective fields.
The main focus of the Göteborg University - School of Design and Crafts is to encourage students to combine creativity with responsibility and to combine professional skills with social engagement. The school has also introduced some new multidisciplinary Design Programs that include specializations in Ceramic Art, Textile Art and Jewelry Art and Design.
Apart from offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs, The Göteborg University - School of Design and Crafts also offers several doctoral programs for those, who are looking for an advanced career as designers, craftsmen, artists and teachers in visual arts. Recently, the school has also launched a division of our educational programs, into a three year first cycle, a two year second cycle and a third cycle focused on PhD studies.
