Institution ProfileThe Ersta Sköndal University College was established in the year 1998. The university was the result of the merger of the research programs, Postgraduate and undergraduate programs of The Stora Sköndal Foundation and the Ersta Society for Diaconal Work.
The main focus of the Ersta Sköndal University College is to offer various course programs in the fields of church music, nursing and health care, theology, and social work - with an explicit diaconal and ethical orientation. The university is organized into four main departments, which include the Department of Social Work, the Department of Health Care Sciences, the Department of Diaconal Studies and Theology, and the Department of Church Music.
The main focus of the Ersta Sköndal University College is to offer teaching and research for the questions within professionalisation and societal issues and philosophies of life and world views. The study environment in the university is a bit different, as it is a combination of new interdisciplinary collaboration and old tradition. What is more, the university also provides opportunities for the students for personal development
The Ersta Sköndal University College offers a wide range of courses through its two main campuses. The first campus is located in Stora Sköndal while the other campus is located in Ersta. At present, the total number of students enrolled in the various course programs offered by the university in both the campuses is almost one thousand.
