Institution ProfileThe Norwegian University of Life Sciences is located at Aas, Norway. It was established in 1859 and was the first agricultural post-graduate college in Norway. It received its university status in 2005. There are almost three thousand students at the college. It consists of eight departments specializing in different subjects. The main areas of specialization are food, biology, environment, and land use and natural resource management. The college offers numerous programs at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels. Six hundred courses are offered at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, out of which, about 180 are taught in English.
Many subjects are taught at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences at different levels. Some of the subjects offered are Aquaculture, Plant Science, Biotechnology and Development Studies. Apart from the degree students, non-degree students also study at the college. These students join primarily through international exchange programs like Erasmus and Nordplus. They are admitted, provided certain academic requirements are fulfilled. The Summer University provides students with a three-week summer course in international agricultural and environmental education.
Extensive research is also conducted at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. These are mainly conducted in Environmental Sciences, Aquaculture, Biotechnology and Business Development. Most of the Master’s level and PhD level students are involved in the research activities. The college has alliances with many international and national organizations, to provide the best education and research opportunities.
