Lappeenranta University of Technology was established in 1969 as a national university of technology. The university, along with the 19 other universities in Finland are all state-run and financed by the Ministry of Education.
The university specializes in technology and economics. About five thousand students study in the various degree programmes offered by the university, and about nine hundred new students are admitted each year. There are about five hundred postgraduate students, and nine hundred members of staff.
The most outstanding feature of the Lappeenranta University of Technology is the way in which it has integrated expertise in technology and economics. The university is situated on the border between the EU and Russia.
The University offers a wide array of courses at all levels, including the Bachelor's Degree programmes, Master's Degree programmes, and Postgraduate Degree programmes.
For example, students may get enrolled in either of the subjects-Bachelor of Science (Economics and Business Administration), Master of Science (Technology), Master of Science (Economics and Business Administration), Licentiate of Science (Economics and Business Administration). The students can also take admission in various doctorate degree programmes, such as Licentiate of Science (Economics and Business Administration), Doctor of Science (Technology), Doctor of Science (Economics and Business Administration) and Doctor of Philosophy.
