Public Health Research Areas and Disciplines |
Research in public health is interdisciplinary with many other departments. Research into the various public health policies and how to improve them are underway. This includes policies such as tobacco and alcohol control.
Other research looks at the factors influencing the adoption and implementation of public health policies, such as public perception, funding, cost-effectiveness analysis, and decision-making by policy makers.
Research into various community acquired illnesses such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, HIV, and influenza are also underway. This research is particularly important as global transmission of previously-contained diseases is now occurring. Current research into preventing pandemic outbreaks of influenza focuses on prevention and mitigation of outbreaks.
