Many philosophy undergraduates choose to pursue further education in order to meet their career goals: philosophy is considered a stepping stone to studies in law, medicine, religion and education, among others. It is not always necessary to pursue further study to get a job, but those options should be considered if one is interested in work related to the topic. Despite its reputation as an esoteric degree, philosophy hardly lacks relevance in the modern world: for example, the relatively new and growing field of bioethics is primarily concerned with issues of philosophy that have been debated for centuries.
