Graduate-level degrees are available to students who already hold a previous undergraduate degree. An average of at least B over the last 2 years is required (some schools require at least B+). Previous work experience (co-op, honors, directed studies, etc.) and relevant courses (biochemistry, physiology, etc.) are mandatory at some schools. Some schools require the student to have written the GRE (graduate record exam) prior to applying for admission (especially for international students).
Admission to a PhD program can either be directly from an undergraduate degree with an average of at least A-, or after acquiring a relevant MSc degree with an average of at least B+.
As all graduate programs require a supervisor, some schools require this person to be approved prior to final admission.
