Research in operations research mostly focuses on improving the design of the various decision-making processes used. This can include software writing to improve algorithms and networks and eliminate unnecessary steps, and usually involves collaboration with software engineers and computer programmers. For example, researchers are working with large amount of data such as web logs and point-of-sale transactions to help organizations make better decisions.
